How you can help protect our Kauri
Kauri dieback is a disease that can kill kauri of all ages. It lives in the soil and invades the root systems and tissues that carry nutrients within the tree. Currently, there is no proven cure and nearly all infected kauri die. The disease can be easily spread through the movement of the soil, which is why it is critical that we all do our part to protect our kauri.
When visiting Waipoua, please ensure you follow the following rules:
-
Use the wash stations available at Tāne Mahuta and Kauri Walks
-
Clean your gear (shoes, tyres and equipment) before and after visiting Waipoua
-
Stay on the designated walking tracks.
